SCANDINAVIA MEETS CHINA:  Jan Bengtson and Jing Wu concert with Svenska Lyxorkestern

Vicul Culture Exchange AB and Lilla Akademien Music Conservatory are pleased to present a fascinating blend of music presented by Chinese and Swedish flautists.

ABOUT:

Jing Wu was born in Jiangsu, China. Fifteen month after her birth, she developed a tumor, retinoblastoma, which resulted in the loss of her eyesight. At the age of ten, Jing began to study the Chinese bamboo flute and the western flute. After receiving advanced flute training in China and the United States, she started her solo performances in Washington DC, Atlanta, Rockville, Baltimore, New York, Boston, San Francisco and many provinces in China. Her music and life story enlightened people all over the world.

In 2012, Jing met the prestigious Swedish flautist Jan Bengtson, current principal flutist at the Swedish Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Benny Andersson’s Orchestra and Swedish Luxurious Orchestra. She decided to apply to Pre-College of Lilla Akademien where Jan Bengtson became her teacher and great friend.

Through their conversations, they found a lot of amazing similarities and differences between Swedish and Chinese folk music. The concert Scandinavia meets China is going to present famous Nordic and Chinese melodies as well as beautiful stories behind it.
